This elegant 1934 Duesenberg Model J Town Car was built for Ethel M. Dorrance, widow of John Dorrance, the man behind condensed soup and the Campbell Soup Company. With her considerable wealth and refined taste, Mrs. Dorrance ordered the car with formal coachwork by Murphy on the long-wheelbase chassis.
She requested a discreet design: modest folding jump seats in the rear and no trunk rack, as someone of her social standing had no need to carry large parcels. The result was a dignified and understated Town Car that reflected her status and lifestyle.
